 THE PROJECT

 DONATING OVER

 1000 BACKPACKS FILLED

 WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES

 TO LOW INCOME FAMILIES

THE PROJECT

The EYT Foundation along with its sponsors organizes an annual back to school drive to give away 1000+ bookbags filled with school supplies to families in the North Miami area. The overarching focus of this event is to aid children from low income households who may be facing a hard time getting the school supplies needed for back to school. Families are encouraged to come out on this day as there will be food, music, and various festivities in addition to local barbers giving out free student haircuts. We will also work in correlation with Ibiley Uniforms to offer special discounts on uniforms for the back to school season.

NON-FAMILY HOUSEHOLDS

Back to school can be one of the most stressful times of the year for parents. This stress can be amplified especially for families without the necessary income or means to adequately equip their children with the supplies they may need to go back to school. The city of North Miami has approximately 59, 289 households, of which 19,378 are family households with children .[1] The average household income in North Miami is approximately $37,094. This average is well below the state of Florida’s average household income of $49,426.[2] This lack of income results in many students lacking the tools and supplies required to maximize their learning experience in the school system.
